A few days after meeting Christian's insanley hilarius mother (Who I have come to absolutlety adore) we were taking inventory of all of the pretty "things" living in her Beautiful house here in Rio. We were talking about how the prices of just about everything have gone up here in this country at an astronomical rate. She pointed out several angel figurines that she was very proud of and proceded to brag about being able to get these very nice home decor types of stuff for so very much less that you could get it here in Brazil. When we came to the 'elephant in the middle of the room', it stood there, awkwardly shading itself with an "Elephant Ear Leaf" "This one she said uneasily...,"I don't know? I told the salesmen, its interesting, I like it, BUT ITS STRANGE! After several trips back and forth to the store where she rummaged through the other treasues from the store, the salesman finally said one day. "OK, I'll give it to you half price. Eventhough she genuinly liked the large, oddly colored elepant, she thought, 'Its strange, I dont know'? She bought it. I have a feeling that she didnt regret buying it because, she told me the story with such enthusiasm. I laughed to myself, my take on it was this. It just sat there, it didn't do anything..That of course was the elephant in the middle of the room(To be tripped over)
Well, here's my elephant. I like it, but, I dont know, it's strange.

Attack of the Mommy!

We're still in Brazil. I have been very inspired to paint Mermaids and Angels on this Loooong vacation. Its a bit unusual for me. Finished another mermaid painting last night, and I think its hilarious. This one is intentionally cheesy (because lets face it people, Mermaids are silly) but adorable none the less. I laugh out loud every time I look at it!
